PTW: In Their Own Words

Let's hear from students, staff, parents,.. stating in their own words what the PTW program has meant to them and as a step in their personal journey in life.

One thing I’ve learned in this program is always be yourself and always try your best no matter what you do. And friends are your biggest support because when I was younger, I never had any friends, I was all on my own, until I came to PTW, I finally found out what a friend is. It’s just a world where you can have a relationship with someone in a unique way.

One thing I've learned in this program is how to send professional emails to people correctly. I would tell other students to join this program because it is helpful if you want to know about job skills and better social skills. You can also make friends. Since joining the program, I have improved on my communication and social skills.

The PTW/transition helped me feel more confident because I have the absolute power and justice to speak out in class to self advocate.

The PTW/transition program helped me feel more confident because I am comfortable in my own skin, and to not be judged and to speak my mind.

One thing I’ve learned in this program is how to ask for help. My favorite activity in the program was Flex Friday, because it brought me out of my comfort zone. I would tell other students to join this program because it gives them a sense of fulfillment. Since joining the program, I have learned to be more social.

The PTW/transition program helped me feel more confident because it made me feel less alone, especially Carlos who was my friend made me a lot better and I know I need to believe in myself for who I really am.  The teachers and staff supported me by helping me push through. This program helped me get ready for work by helping me pay attention and stay focused  and get myself together. I would tell other students to join this program because it helps you become more independent and confident in yourself.

Here are my thoughts on LIU. What I learned from PTW was how to work as a team specifically through the stores I went through. The teachers helped me when giving him some challenging questions. Since the start of the program, I have improved in finding myself and what I specifically want to do and I only recommend it to people who want to find out what they want to do later in life
